Whatever stage you are at your life as an artist, it can be useful to talk through the challenges of this rollercoaster of a creative life with someone who understands. As a practicing artist with a lifetime of experience in various fields of art, from working as Senior Editor of an international art magazine to curating exhibitions of work by a variety of artists for both small London venues and a Paris museum, I have inside knowledge of the ups and downs, the pitfalls and the delights of this creative life. Not only do I love helping fellow artists overcome challenges, gain confidence in themselves and in their art and push them a little outside their comfort zone, but I believe these are also some of my superpowers. With a gentle, positive approach, we will work together to help you achieve the outcomes you desire.

One-to-one calls are an opportunity to discuss where you are in your art practice at the moment and gain support in setting goals and moving towards them. You have the opportunity to choose the subject matter of our conversation depending on the support you require. It may be that you feel you would benefit from some honest feedback on recent creations or that you would like to discuss what the next step should be in your creative journey; perhaps you are starting to think about finding ways to try and make money from your art, maybe you are at the point of considering venues for your first exhibition or you might simply need some support as you build your creative confidence.

I would be happy to support you. Please use the contact form to get in touch if you’d like to book a session or if you have any questions.

The investment for a one-off mentoring session is £75 for up to one hour.
Calls are scheduled at a time to suit both parties. I look forward to working with you.

Why should you work with me?

I am committed to supporting you in developing a creative practice that fits your busy life. I love seeing people focus on their creative practice and find their voice. I know how it can feel to be juggling so many things, to be putting others first and for the thing that is so important to you to take a back seat. I also know the enormous difference art can make to how you feel day to day and how a commitment to your creativity can impact all areas of your life.

I listen deeply and often spot the connections other people miss. With a wealth of experience in a variety of different roles across the field of art, I am able to approach you and your art from the viewpoint of curator, journalist, teacher and fellow artist. Supporting artists in expanding their comfort zone to create their best work is not only one of my strengths, but something that brings me great pleasure. Having built a body of work for an art fair and Open Studios in less than a year whilst working part time and mothering two sons, then producing two solo exhibitions in two years, with good sales at both, I understand the highs and lows of this creative rollercoaster. I would relish the opportunity to support you on this journey of exploration and expansion.

What DO OTHER PEOPLE SAY?

“I first met Julia on a 30 day challenge and was so impressed by her weekly check-in process and encouragement that I jumped at the chance of more in-depth mentoring with her. I found that the monthly calls gave a fantastic balance of inspiration and ideas alongside practical help and advice from a working artist. The in-depth weekly email reviews kept me motivated and focused on being creative as well as providing helpful feedback on the work I was producing. Julia's  guidance and leadership  have really worked for me on this creative journey and given me the confidence to show my work to others and to present it for sale.”
- Teresa Trangmar on her experience of a three-month mentorship.

“The minute you will get to work with Julia, you will experience her inner joy, love and beauty. These qualities shine through in whatever she does: her inspirational guidance, her art, her writing and her videos. Julia knows on a deep level the relevance of appreciating life and sharing joy. I feel very grateful and extremely fortunate to have the continuous support of this talented soul. On days, when I feel doubts and fears coming up, she always helps me see why I’m on this path of a creative life.”
