Creativity is…
• JOY
• A way of life
• Self-expression
• A constant companion
• A healthy way to unwind
• A way of connecting with others
• A way to gain confidence and find your own voice
BE CREATIVE DAILY adds balance to my creative practice. It’s my way of supporting others in their artistic development because I know what a difference art can make to people’s lives.
BE CREATIVE DAILY started as a commitment to myself… a promise to make art every day for 30 days and share it with the world. It began with making small pieces of art to gain confidence, involved finishing work that I started, even when it became difficult and sharing each piece with reflections in a blog. Just one month later, the challenge I had set myself culminated in hosting my first art workshop at home and starting an art club that I ran for ten years at the local school. Since then, I have led courses and classes and worked as a mentor to other artists as I built my own practice and began exhibiting my work. I now run classes and workshops in person and online and support artists one-to-one through my mentoring work. I developed the Exploring Collections course for Outside In, supporting artists to research works in museums and gallery collections and further their creative practice in response to their learning. The process benefits participants way beyond the research knowledge and artistic development; clarity and confidence also increase as a result.
I know from personal experience and observation of others that a commitment to your creativity is the first step along a hugely satisfying path. When you commit to your creativity, life can open up in such fascinating ways… you start to see things differently and notice the little details and and when you share your work, connections and opportunities that you wouldn’t have thought possible can begin to arise. Art is absorbing, it’s hugely satisfying and yes, it can be frustrating, but it is so worthwhile!
This creative life can feel like riding a rollercoaster - exhilarating and terrifying, but I wouldn’t change it for the world! To feel excitement tinged with fear is all part of the process, but don’t worry… I am here to support you in your own creative journey and encourage you to commit to living a more joyful, connected, creative life. There is no one-size-fits-all… this is about carving out the creative life that suits you best and offers you the joy, connection and creativity that you seek. You are capable of so much more than you realise… sometimes you just need someone who believes in you when you need a helping hand. You are in the right place. I see you and I believe in you, creative soul. Let’s create something good together! Start by downloading your free 5-day Return to Art Challenge by clicking the green button below.
